How To Make Yourself Go To Sleep Fast

Hey everyone, Dave here from Ten Minute Zen.

Sleep.

Sleep, sleep, sleep.

I can't fallasleep at night.

When I'm tired.

When I'm not tired.

Doesn't matter, I can't fall asleep.

So you lay there, look at the clock, get upsetbecause you have to get up in a few hours, you drink this, you read that, you flip aroundso your head is where your feet normally are and so on.

And.

Nothing works.

But this will.

I'm going to show you a special breathingexercise that you can do, in bed, it's quiet, you won't wake anyone up, no one will evenknow you're doing it and you'll forget you're doing it because you'll fall asleep.

Here's how it goes.

When you breath in, you're going to make asound in your head.

When you breath out, you're going to make a different sound in your head.

Whether you breath from your nose or mouth or both makes no difference.

And the sounds you're going to make.

In yourhead, not out loud.

Will be SAAAAA and OOOOOOOM.

Uh-oh, is this some mystical stuff that'sway out there? Nope.

The sounds are actually white noise.

Whichis a constant noise that naturally relaxes human beings.

And it just so happens, thatin the English language, vowels create white noise.

A.

E.

I.

O.

U.

So you can really use any vowel or any wordsor letters that drag out with a vowel at the end.

But we're going to use SAAAAA and OOOOOMin this video.

To start, we're going to use 3 focus breaths.

These are 3 breaths that are deeper than normal breaths, but not as deep as a deep breath.

Like this.

Then we're going to start a rhythem, whenwe breath in, in our mind, we'll say SAAAAA.

And when we breath out, in our mind, we'regoing to say OOOOOOmmm.

What's important here is the rhythem.

That it's consistant.

SAAAA, OOOOOOm.

SAAAA, OOOOOOm.

SAAAA, OOOOOOm.

SAAAA, OOOOOOm.

SAAAA, OOOOOOm.

Should you do this for a certain length oftime or should you do this X number of times? Nope.

In fact, if you try to count while doingthis, you're going to lose track of the number pretty quickly.

You're simply going to keep doing this untilyou screw up, which means you're about to fall asleep because you're not really consciousanymore.

Or you'll fall asleep and won't even remember you were doing this.

Sorry if you were expecting someting morecomplex, but simple always works best.

How to control someone else’s arm with your brain | Greg Gage

The brain is an amazing and complex organ.

And while many peopleare fascinated by the brain, they can't really tell you that much about the propertiesabout how the brain works because we don't teachneuroscience in schools.

And one of the reasonswhy is that the equipment is so complex and so expensive that it's really only done at majoruniversities and large institutions.

And so in order to be ableto access the brain, you really need to dedicate your life and spend six and a half yearsas a graduate student just to become a neuroscientistto get access to these tools.

And that's a shamebecause one out of five of us, that's 20 percent of the entire world, will have a neurological disorder.

And there are zero curesfor these diseases.

And so it seems thatwhat we should be doing is reaching back earlierin the eduction process and teaching students about neuroscienceso that in the future, they may be thinking about possiblybecoming a brain scientist.

When I was a graduate student,my lab mate Tim Marzullo and myself, decided that what if we tookthis complex equipment that we have for studying the brain and made it simpleenough and affordable enough that anyone that you know, an amateuror a high school student, could learn and actually participatein the discovery of neuroscience.

And so we did just that.

A few years ago, we starteda company called Backyard Brains and we make DIY neuroscience equipmentand I brought some here tonight, and I want to do some demonstrations.

You guys want to see some? So I need a volunteer.

So right before — what is your name?(Applause) Sam Kelly: Sam.

Greg Gage: All right, Sam, I'm goingto record from your brain.

Have you had this before? SK: No.

GG: I need you to stick outyour arm for science, roll up your sleeve a bit, So what I'm going to do,I'm putting electrodes on your arm, and you're probably wondering, I just said I'm going to record from yourbrain, what am I doing with your arm? Well, you have about 80 billion neuronsinside your brain right now.

They're sending electrical messagesback and forth, and chemical messages.

But some of your neuronsright here in your motor cortex are going to send messages downwhen you move your arm like this.

They're going to go downacross your corpus callosum, down onto your spinal cordto your lower motor neuron out to your muscles here, and that electrical dischargeis going to be picked up by these electrodes right here and we're going to be able to listen to exactly what your brainis going to be doing.

So I'm going to turn this on for a second.

Have you ever heardwhat your brain sounds like? SK: No.

GG: Let's try it out.

So go ahead and squeeze your hand.

(Rumbling) So what you're listening to, so this is your motor unitshappening right here.

Let's take a look at it as well.

So I'm going to stand over here, and I'm going to open up our app here.

So now I want you to squeeze.

(Rumbling) So right here, these are the motor unitsthat are happening from her spinal cordout to her muscle right here, and as she's doing it, you're seeing the electrical activitythat's happening here.

You can even click hereand try to see one of them.

So keep doing it really hard.

So now we've paused on one motor action potential that'shappening right now inside of your brain.

Do you guys want to see some more? (Applause) That's interesting, but let's get it better.

I need one more volunteer.

What is your name, sir? Miguel Goncalves: Miguel.

GG: Miguel, all right.

You're going to stand right here.

So when you're moving your arm like this, your brain is sending a signaldown to your muscles right here.

I want you to move your arm as well.

So your brain is going to senda signal down to your muscles.

And so it turns out that there isa nerve that's right here that runs up here that innervatesthese three fingers, and it's close enough to the skinthat we might be able to stimulate that so that what we can do is copy your brain signalsgoing out to your hand and inject it into your hand, so that your hand will movewhen your brain tells your hand to move.

So in a sense, she will take awayyour free will and you will no longer haveany control over this hand.

You with me? So I just need to hook you up.

So now I'm going to move awayand we're going to plug it in to our human-to-human interface over here.

Okay, so Sam, I want youto squeeze your hand again.

Perfect.

So now I'm going to hook you upover here so that you get the — It's going to feela little bit weird at first, this is going to feel like a –(Laughter) You know, when you lose your free will, and someone else becomes your agent, it does feel a bit strange.

Now I want you to relax your hand.

Sam, you're with me? So you're going to squeeze.

I'm not going to turn it on yet,so go ahead and give it a squeeze.

So now, are you ready, Miguel? MG: Ready as I'll ever be.

GG: I've turned it on, so go aheadand turn your hand.

Do you feel that a little bit?MG: Nope.

GG: Okay, do it again?MG: A little bit.

GG: A little bit? (Laughter) So relax.

So hit it again.

(Laughter) Oh, perfect, perfect.

So relax, do it again.

All right, so right now, your brain is controlling your armand it's also controlling his arm, so go ahead and just do it one more time.

All right, so it's perfect.

(Laughter) So now, what would happenif I took over my control of your hand? And so, just relax your hand.

What happens? Ah, nothing.

Why not? Because the brain has to do it.

So you do it again.

SUMMER WATERMELON DESSERT How To Cook That Ann Reardon Watermelon Week

Welcome to How To Cook That, I'm Ann Reardonand today we are making this beautiful summery watermelon cheesecake dessert.

even thoughit is not summer here in Australia.

But I have some exciting news, the T-Shirtshave arrived! This one is a limited edition 'Make It A Great Week' silver foil designand there are other designs in the store that you can go and check out but this one is onlyavailable for the next 10 days only.

So make sure you check on the link below and go getone of these as well.

Now to make this dessert what we need to dofirst is to make the base.

So we are going to need some biscuits and some margarine anda little bit of green gel food colouring.

Take you biscuits and using a rolling pincrush them into fine crumbs.

I'll put all the recipe quantities on the howtocookthat.

Netwebsite and I'll link to that below for you.

If you have a food processor you can use thatfor this instead if you like.

Then take the margarine and melt it in themicrowave or on the stovetop then pour in the biscuit crumbs and give that a quick stir, then add in the food colouring.

And we want to stir that really well to incorporate thegreen colour all the way through and squash any big bits of biscuit chunks.

Then repeat that process, this time using red food colouring to make red crumbs.

Pour the red into a loose based cake tin or pie dish and use the back of a spoon to squashit flat all around the base there.

Now we need to make a bit of room for thegreen rind of the watermelon so run your knife around the edge to loosen a line of red andtake it out.

Then take a small handful of green and squeezeit together to make it clump together, and then squash that onto the side of the tin.

Continue to do that the whole way around thetin and then use your spoon again to flatten and smooth it around.

And then to make the top level just againuse the back of your spoon to push it down so it looks like an even watermelon rind.

For the white part we need cream cheese, itshould be the block cream cheese, sugar, milk, water, gelatin and cream.

Tip the gelatin into the water and stir it up and then leave that to absorb the water.

Whip the cream to make soft peaks and thenyou want to set that to one side.

Now we are going to beat the cream cheesewith electric mixers until it is smooth, and then add in the sugar.

All these ingredients should be at room temperatureso that when we add the gelatine in a minute it doesn't instantly set, we need time tobe able to pour it in.

Add in the milk.

and then heat the gelatin in the microwaveuntil it is melted.

And pour that into the cream cheese mixture and beat it quickly.

Add the whipped cream to the mixture and fold it through gently, this is just adding someair to the mixture so it's a little bit fluffy.

Add about a cup of that mixture into a bowland add some red gel food colouring to it and mix it through.

And then spread that out on the base, and this is going to seal the biscuit crumbs sothey don't become soft when we add the filling later on.

Now turn a bowl upside down in the centre and pipe your cheesecake mixture around theedge.

Now if you use a bigger bowl you'll have less white – which is more like on areal watermelon, but I wanted more cheesecake in mine so I've got a bit of a smaller bowland I'll make the white a bit thicker.

Then you want to place that in the fridge to set.

For the filling you need some yummy freshwatermelon, a packet of strawberry jelly or jello and some water.

Tip the jelly crystals into the water andstir it well and this is just cold water it's not heated up yet.

Then place the watermelon into a blender and blitz it to make juice.

Tip that through a fine sieve to get rid of any little seeds, I think we've got a coupleaccidentally in there, and the coarse bits of pulp because we want our jelly to end upsmooth and clear.

Heat the jelly mixture until the sugar andthe gelatine are melted , you don't want any sugar crystals left you want it nice and smoothin your mouth.

Then pour that into the watermelon juice andmix it up.

This really has a great fresh watermelon flavour to this jelly.

Now that the cheesecake mixture is set, run a knife around the edge of the bowl, and thenwiggle it to loosen it and then carefully lift it up, I'll just use a fork to get thatup and out of the centre of the dessert.

And then use your knife to spread the cheesecakemixture over any gaps just to seal that so we don't get the jelly going through.

Then pour the watermelon jelly into the middle just until it's at the same level as the cheesecake.

And then use the back of a spoon to pop any bubbles and then you want to put that in thefridge to set.

For the watermelon seeds or pips place somechocolate into a bowl and melt it in the microwave.

And then pour that into a piping bag and cutoff just the very tip, if you don't have a piping bag.

When you are melting chocolate in the microwave just do 30 second stir, 20 second stir andthen bursts of 10 seconds until it's completely melted.

We don't need to temper it for thesepips.

Cut off just the very tip of the piping bagand if you don't have a piping bag you can use just a plastic bag for this.

Pipe a dot then drag it slightly to one sideto make the shape of the pips.

So just make a dot and drag it to one side.

Then give thepaper a little shake to smooth off the top.

And let them set in the fridge.

To get the dessert out of the tin place aglass underneath and push down so the sides just slide off the tin.

Remove the base andplace it onto a cutting board.

And then pull out the paper out from underneath, becausewe don't want to eat that.

Take some green food colouring and paint somecrooked lines up around the edge of the cheesecake so that it looks like watermelon skin does.

It's not all the one colour, it changes as it goes around.

Then using tweezers carefully add the chocolatewatermelon pips into place in two rows around the outside.

Then cut that into wedges and serve it cold.

Share this video with someone who likes watermelon, don't forget to grab yourself a T-Shirt I'll put the link for that below.

Welles adapted H.

News reports aroundthe country in the days after the broadcast, reported that there had been mass hysteriaand that the highways were jammed with people fleeing.

But, as it turns out, allof the reports were fake.

The War of the Worldsbroadcast was actually a scheduled episode of theMercury Theater on air.

Now while some people believedthat Martians with Death Rays were wiping out the human race, the program only had a small audience and there weren't actuallyany reports of mass hysteria.

Just a few panicked peoplewho were freaked out, after they tuned in late.

To get the upper hand, the church claimed that they had already hadthe rights to the land, thanks to the donation of Constantine.

A letter written by the Roman emperor, Constantine I, in the fourth century.

As a thank you to Pope Sylvester I, for curing him of hisleprosy and converting him to Christianity,Constantine gave the church ownership and political control of land in Europe, Asia and Africa.

And for centuries, everybody bought it.

It wasn't until 1440, thatthe Italian Catholic priest, Lorenzo Valla, proved that it was fake and really written inthe mid-eighth century because certain words and phrases wouldn't have been usedor even invented yet.

The church covered it up for years, but eventually, admitted the truth.

Even though, many peopleinsist it was real.

But it's cool, everybody.

That's the first time the churchever covered something up.

During the 2016 AmericanPresidential Election cycle, bipartisan fake news sites, started popping up online.

The Denver Guardianclaimed to be the oldest news publication in Denver andthe site looked legitimate, but only had one news story that was posted on November 5th, justdays before the election.

The article entitled, FBI agent suspected in Hillary Email Leaks, found dead in apparent murder suicide, contained quotes from sources likePolice Chief, Pat Frederick from Walkerville, Maryland, neither of which existed.

The Denver Post and NPRexposed the Guardian as fake and run by 40 year old, Jestin Coler, who also owned other fake news sites.

But that didn't stop thestory from being shared over half a million times and having over 15.

5 million interactions on Facebook, making it one of the mostshared fake news story of 2016.

Everybody please listento me, this is important.

Think before you share stuff on Facebook, a lot of it is fake, Mother of God! On November 8th 2016,India's Prime Minister announced that thecountry, was introducing a 2,000 Rupee note, but thatall 501,000 Rupee notes were being taken out of circulation and would become invalid at Midnight.

The move was meant to stopillegal counterfeit operations but the short notice ledto confusion and panic.

India actually has over50 million Whatsapp users and a rumor that the new note, was actually a spyingdevice, quickly went viral across the messaging app and social media.

India's Reserve Bank was quickto call the claims false, but even the mainstream mediastarted reporting the claim, that the new note wasequipped with a Nano GPS Chip, that could track you nearly400 feet below ground.

The incident ended up bringing light to just how fast, news storiesspread over the internet and the impact of lowjournalistic standards.

On August 25th 1835, theNew York Sun newspaper, published the first of six great astronomical discoveries article.

Which said that alien life, hadbeen discovered on the Moon.

What made the story so convincing, was that the famous real life astronomer, Sir John Herschel had made the discovery while looking through hisseriously impressive telescope.

The articles were supposedly written by Herschel's colleague, Dr.

Andrew Grant, and claimed that the Moon was covered in crystal caves, rivers and forests and even had exotic creatureslike winged humanoid bats, two-legged beavers and unicorns.

At the time, people wereobsessed with astronomy and theories on alien life and The Sun's subscription sky-rocketed.

But, in 1840, Reporter Richard Locke, said that he wrote thestory to increase sales and to mock those alien believers.

Why is there such a lack ofcritical thinking skills? People with bat wings don't exist.

In 1915, a rumor spread that Germany was using the bodies of dead soldiers to render fat for candles, lubricants and soap.

Now, Germany, of course, denied it.

But the story was printed without proof in newspapers in France,Britain and America.

In April of 1917, the DailyMail and the Times newspapers claimed to have an anonymous source, who had visited a so called,"corpse utilization factory" the Times also cited astory in a German paper, by Reporter Karl Rosner, whohad visited a corpse factory and saw "kadavers" with the K.

But, at this time, cadavers with a C, referred to animalslike horses, not humans.

But the British still used this story to convince China to joinin the war against Germany.

Which they did on August 14th 1917.

They were eventually proven to be fake, but the Nazis used it as"proof" that the British had made up the holocaustduring the second World War.

It's September of 2009, news outlet across Australia, including the Associated Press, reported on a scientific study entitled, Deception Detection acrossAustralian populations.

It was supposedly publishedby Dr.

Carl Varnsen at the Leavitt Institute and studied how gullible Australians were, with Sydney ranking as the most naivecity in the whole country.

Now, the report looked pretty official, but it had a big clue thatthe whole thing was fake.

Hidden in the scientific methodology, was the line, "theseresults were completely made up to be fictitious material, through a process of modifiedtruth and credibility notes.

" in other words, y'all are idiots! Sydney's dummy status causeda lot of public outcry, which kind of showedhow naive everyone was, which was the idea and that you should always fact check before reporting.

It turns out that thewhole thing was a big hoax to promote a new comedy news TV show.

You maybe surprised to learnthat on of the founding fathers of the United States of America, was also one of the earliestspreaders of fake news, or not.

In 1782, America was inthe middle of the war of independence against Great Britain and Ben Franklin was looking for creative ways to gain support.

He wrote a completely false article about British Allied Native Americans scalping 700 defenselessrevolutionary soldiers, women and children and even included a fake letter from real life war hero, John Paul Jones, to support his story.

He printed it in fake copiesof the Boston newspaper, the Independent Chronicle and sent it to all of his colleagues.

It was then re-printed as fact,in many American newspapers.

The story was widely believed and spread false ideas about Native Americans as savage, un-American sympathizers.

Oh, Benny boo-boo, why youdo this, that's not nice.

By 2014, only 1% of Myanmar's population had the internet, but by2016, that rose to 20%.

There are even magazines that print popular online stories, true or false.

Now, Myanmar has a Buddhist majority and there has been tension and violence with the country's Muslim minority.

In 2016, fake news stories and pictures of Muslims being tortured, was spreading.

But, most of the photos were taken from not only, unrelated events but completely different countries.

Making it worse, is that at the same time, there were news stories about Muslims committing terriblecrimes against Buddhists.

At first, neither were true, but in an investigation by thejournalist Cheryl Frankel, found that the storiesdid have a direct impact on an increased in hate crimesand violence towards Muslims.

This include, burning down Muslim villages and murders of at least 70 people.

In late 2016, posters on 4chan and Reddit, spread a conspiracytheory that a pedophile sex-trafficking ring, involving members of the Democratic Party, was operating out of the Comet Ping Pongpizzeria in Washington D.

C.

It was uncovered after Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta's emails supposedly with codedmessages about the sex ring, were leaked by WikiLeaks.

The story was of course, debunked and D.

C Police said it was all fake.

But, it still went viralon Twitter and Facebook and even in the Turkish Press.

Comet's owner, James Alefantis, started to get death threatsand on December 4th 2016, 28 year old, Edgar Welch, opened fire in the pizzeria.

Now, luckily, no one was hurt.

But, Welch said that hewanted to self-investigate the claims and onlysurrendered once he believed that there weren't any childsex slaves being held hostage.

Okay, there should be a law that before you're even allowedto log onto the internet, you have to put on yourcritical thinking cap.

Think people, damn it! But as always, thank you guysso much for watching this.

How To: LOOK BEAUTIFUL WITH NO MAKEUP

– [Voice] Today's video will focus on how to be beautiful without makeup.

Some people do not like putting makeup morning or they simply do not have time so I'll just show you a few easy steps to be presentable before crossing the door.

In the morning, we are not the best our shape or our appearance and that is why we will change that.

So the first step is of course brushing teeth.

And when you brush your teeth, exfoliate your lips using your toothbrush and that's what I'm doing here, brush my lips to make sure all dry skin disappeared completely.

Then I will go exfoliate my skin.

On days when I do not like wearing makeup, I like to exfoliate my skin and make me my skin is beautiful, fresh and clean.

I like to use a brush like this and a very gentle exfoliation and I like to circulate and clean my face thoroughly.

After, you feel so clean.

The brush really helps to cleanse your skin.

Okay, now that we feel good and clean, I'll go a little exfoliate my lips because I naturally very dry skin So my lips tend to be very dry so I use a lip scrub here and make sure my lips are smooth and soft.

So here are probably the most important step.

You start by gently patting your face and even pinch your cheeks.

This is fundamental to circulate blood and bring some color to your skin.

Then you need to moisturize your lips with your favorite lip balm.

My two favorites are Aquaphor and Essential Oils.

Today I chose Essential Oils because it smells so good.

For the area under my eyes, I chose a lightening cream for eyes.

This instantly illuminates the area below my eyes, so I really like it.

Then, of course, you apply your favorite moisturizer.

If the product already contains sunscreen then you can not use sunscreen.

If not, then you must apply after your moisturizer.

And make the product into your skin.

This step is also very important, especially if you're not going to wear makeup.

Make sure you brush your eyebrows So pluck them if necessary and then after that, brush them up for a neat look.

Curl your lashes really change your look.

This instantly lifts your eyes so if you do not wear mascara, I suggest you curl them.

As you can see, it makes a huge difference.

I want to curl them twice because the first time the curls, and the second time, you ensure keep curly the rest of the day.

Of course, make sure your hair are brushed or your hair is fine and curly, according to the look you want.

I just cut my hair and I blow-dried last night So my hair was beautiful and smooth so I decided to paint it and let steep.

Here's another great tip for you guys.

Apply some Aquaphor on your lashes.

This will give a wet look to your lashes, which will give air you wear a little mascara.

I also like to apply Aquaphor on up my cheeks for a natural glow.

Since we do not apply illuminators, you must apply something shiny to give you a nice glow.

So after that, you're done.

You are beautiful, fresh, well presented and ready to go, but if you must use a product, this should be a bronzer.

So if you apply a little bronzer on your cheeks as you can see, I apply very little and I make sure that it is nice and well mixed.

I prefer to use a Kabuki brush and press it on top of my cheeks.

And I think a bit of bronzer adds a lot of color.

This is totally optional.

you can simply skip this step and to look presentable, but if you want to add some color to make sure you were in the sun, go ahead and do this.

Jewelry is also a nice touch, so I like to wear earrings, shake my hair, feel confident and through the door.

I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial and more of my videos, be sure to subscribe.
